So, I tried to get ahold of my local NLRB office, left them messages, etc. In the meantime, I had my 90-day review last Friday, during which the Clinic Manager had no negative remarks and had suggested that I will receive a $2/hr raise in coming weeks but we'll work out specifics later. Fast forward to today, still unable to get in touch with the NLRB, got called into the same Manager's office and was told that I am being laid off due to “budget cuts” and that several others will be laid off as well. Now I'm home in the middle of the day trying to understand what the hell just happened. I am a junior in college, going for Animal Science. I hate college, my routine, and don't think I want to do the Animal science jobs that most are moving towards. It all feels so wasteful and pointless. All of it. I can see no reason to devote myself to working like so many others. I'm trying to consider some other options (I've considered learning a trade, maybe changing degrees, idk what tho) but everyone just keeps saying, “You're almost done!” or “You'll do just fine, it will all make sense one day.” I don't want to be trapped in indecision for another year. Does anyone have some advice?

I'm a designer and am well-versed in a lot of different disciplines and therefore apply to a ton of various jobs that match my qualifications. It always goes like this: Job that matches my qualifications that I'd be perfect for: Crickets Job that's out of my wheelhouse that I applied to just because: “Hi, you'd be a perfect fit, let's schedule a call!” Although it's nice that they're reaching out and trying to work with me to see if I'd fit, it always ends up being a waste of our time. Any other parents working from home with their kids feel like they are about ready to lose it? I'm absolutely exhausted and can't keep up with taking care of the kids and working my remote 8-5 job. I just feel alone and like this is absolutely impossible, but our only option right now. Daycare centers around us have waiting list 6 months out or are constantly closed due to staffing issues and covid. I just don't see an end to all this madness.

tl;dr: Place gave me two 'random' drug tests in a row, tried to not pay me for the day I spent out getting it done, and I used the threat of legal action to get paid. Know your rights! So my girlfriend works at HEB in Texas, we were both excited when we got the job because they pay well and we've heard it a good place to work for compared to many others. However, She works in the bakery, and the expectations have been proven to be ridiculous and borderline unrealistic. They give her lists of stuff to bake and prep, and the lists are like, 500 cookies, 20 cakes other large numbers where she's expected to put out THOUSANDS of products a shift. She almost always comes up a little short and has to either stay late and get overtime to finish, and then she gets bitched at for taking too long and going into overtime (which is the managers fault too for scheduling her like that by now) or leaves on time to avoid overtime and gets bitched at for not making enough product. I'm on disability because I have a chronic illness, but I still need to work part time to make ends meet. My illness causes inflammation, pain, fatigue, and swelling. I just got a new job two weeks ago and I was loving it. It was chill and close to where I live. Which is good because I cant drive. Second week in, I had to take a day off because I was going through a medication adjustment. Manager said it was fine and understandable. No worries.
