That’s there idea of vacation time. lol. Wtf. Edit I should have posted what fmla is. It’s the family medical leave act. Federal program. https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd/fmla
Through a mix of engagement and lurking I’ve seen an influx of accounts on this sub who are clearly not here to be a part of a community, but to dilute our space. Nitpicking specific wording, questioning responses that don’t warrant a question, feigning innocence and ignorance on basic premises, capitalist talking points, fascist talking points. Regardless of it’s form this this sub has been subjected to trolling efforts. Despite “No Trolling” being our #2 rule and from my perspective I don’t see anything done about it.
Crane collapses and kills two workers
As you might have heard, there was a heavy storm in Europe this night / morning. In my home country, Poland, a construction crane collapsed due to the storm, and it killed two workers. Two more were injured. Also in Poland, the roof of a supermarket was blown away by the storm, with people inside, of course. And it made me think what kind of company forces people to come to work in such weather conditions? But of course in late-stage capitalism, wOrK iS HoLy aNd iT's A vIrTuE, so they force you. They force you to give up your life and die for them, die for the money. I hate capitalism, and I don't even feel an ounce of shame for not going to work every day and just studying. This is the video of the crane collapsing: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/qCwtxLemJBc Here is an article about it in English. It says…
She quit her job.
Need some advice, Reddit. My wife has been working for her current employer for about 3 months now. The boss, while a seemingly nice lady, has some pretty shitty business practices. The current problem, is that my wife is feeling extremely burnt out due to her job and a series of negative events that have come up in our lives. So, she took today off to rest and recharge. The boss said something along the lines that she's sorry she's not feeling well and to get better soon, but then sends a text basically saying that she “generally asks that employees make up a day, to give clients the option to reschedule.” She then asked if my wife could come in on Wednesday or Saturday, which is her normal scheduled days off. This would seriously defeat the whole reason she's taking a day off, as then she would have to…
This sub is the best employee resource
I wish this sub had existed when I was fired from a former employer (a multi-billion dollar company). Despite having witnesses who could attest to their discrimination towards me, the courts wouldn't accept their testimony. If I had recorded any of the conversations I had with HR, in a one party state, there would have been indisputable proof of their discrimination and retaliation against me. This sub is teaching employees how to protect themselves from corporations that don't give a shit about them. It is high time we realize the closest we'll get to finding “family” in the workplace is through a union, unless we count abusive relatives as family. Every time I see a post detailing a bullshit situation from a dejected person, followed by an update from the person describing how they're now fighting back, I'm filled with hope.
