I really don't want to make this a long post I would just like some advice. I was recently fired as a salesperson at a car dealership with good sales. I also had just purchased a house and now have a mortgage. Both store managers were very surprised as the owner was the one who decided. He will not give me a reason but I recently called in twice because of snowstorms and I drive a pretty crappy car with the power steering not working. I have alot of vehicles on order waiting to come in about 10000 dollars worth I now lose out on. I feel as if he stole that from me. I am very upset because this job and place was something I was very passionate and happy about. I really really want to email him asking why I was let go when other people in there…

How do people make it into jobs where they make 6 figures? I see a lot of stories on Reddit where people are leaving high income jobs and posting their salaries, and I feel like I've been lied to by my own job. I have a bachelors degree and several technical certifications, and I've never made over 55k/year in my lifetime. I'm sure some of it is nepotism, but I don't understand how you convince these corporate HR shills to offer you 6 figure salaries during your interviews. I work my ass off and nobody cares.
Medicated to work
I’ve been on a couple different profession-themed subs recently where many members report having to take psych medications to go on. The stress of work in addition to life stress is just too much. Not sure where I am going with this but maybe it speaks to how our priorities and work need to change. We need teachers. And nurses. And lots of other services and professionals.
Is asking not to discuss pay illegal?
I live in NYS and work for a pretty large corporate lumber yard. Whenever employees have meetings with the manager he always tells them/me to not discuss pay. It’s usually during your yearly review or profit sharing meeting. He says “ we ask that you do not discuss pay or wages as it always causes problems”. This has always bothered me and I was wondering if just mentioning this was illegal.
So the pub (in UK) I work at has recently had a manager tell us that being a single minute late once in a week will mean no tips for the week (not a crutch for the wage like in America but still a nice bonus/incentive) The manager didn't seem to respond well to me laughing at the idea being late by a minute once would justify no tips or that this would remove any incentive (imagine you're late by a minute on Monday, why would you try?) I was told that in an office setting you would be taken to disciplinary for being 'late'. Strangely there was an awkward silence upon being asked which company would actually discipline you for being one minute late once in a week. I was also told 'well the rota has you in at x time so you need to be in by then'.…
No War In Ukraine, No War But Class War!
My friend got a part-time job as an ATM repair person and was hired after the interview. The employer sent a job offer letter which was signed and dated prior to the first job. The first job was a few hours from friends' location and the employer picked a friend up and they drove to the job. They both did simple work repairing the ATM and now his employer says the first job was really a second job interview. He was already hired and spent two hours of time performing labor and assisting the employer. He does not want to fight for the wages but I've told him his boss seems like a scammer and has multiple “atm” repairmen all over the state all running the same gig. They use one username for the CRM and it seems like the owner is just subbing out his work. My friend should…
End work place drug test
I worked for Ingersoll Rand last year between August and October, had to resign because apparently talking about marijuana at work is a NO NO even though over half of the country is legalized. I also slipped up and told a co-worker I had smoked the past weekend with my friends, ended up in the “principals” office aka my regional manger and was ultimately forced to resign. This was in SC. Stop fucking worrying about what I do after hours
