New place that hired me seems sketch
I recently got hired at this bar. I only have serving experience and they were bartenders only but they said they would train me. They told me to come in for a few hours the next day after hiring me. I didn’t know if it would be to do initial paperwork or what? I had only filled out an application at this point, nothing more. My first day, no paper work and I end up being on my own, helping as needed, not much training goes on. They pay me 60 bucks at the end of the day for 7 hours? I mentioned to someone that I never clocked in which I thought was odd (or did paperwork) I was essentially doing the other bartenders favors / whatever they needed. I didn’t get trained really even, but I digress. The person I mentioned clocking in to, said we don’t clock…
I’m just kind of frustrated
I like my job, it pays not quite a living wage, at $20-21/hour ($16.50/hour with tips adding up to $3-4/hour on average.) I sit at a counter, and I deal with often more money than I see in a year because I’m dealing with drunk people with fuck you money. It’s Casino work, and there’s nothing wrong with it. I got poked by a friend with a WFH opportunity that pays the same, but untipped ($21 an hour) that just allows me to work on side projects when I have time. I work Graveyard shift currently, and am asleep during human hours normally. I can’t leave my current job because I’ve been sort of housed (defined here as not crashing with a friend or parents) for the last year or so, and I’m trying to get into housing. Housing is just fucking expensive. I can afford up to $1000/month in…
UPDATE: ben still hasn’t paid me
Lied to about raise
I was promoted at Burger King sometime last year, about 7 months ago. Direct deposit doesn’t come with paper check stubs, so I never noticed if it was on there until I checked ADP. No raise. Only lies.
I am absolutely miserable. To say I loathe coming to work would be a heavy understatement. I know that I am not happy, and to be quite honest, I think my job knows I am on the brink of quitting. How much much would you do for $3.50 an hour? Plus tip pool…. between 200 people. I am a bartender at a country club, and I am only allowed to have my tip jar out for non-member events. Why? Because the members complained, and said, “We pay to be here, so we shouldn’t have to tip.” My bosses will tell me to take my tip jar DOWN. What am I even doing there if I’m not making money? I’m a new mom, and have to make sure my family is taken care of… and I will do that at any cost. But I’m pretty much breaking even, if that…. I…
I've been working in a busy grocery store the past few months, it's been tough but my coworkers were some of the best I've had and it's unionized so I didn't mind the hard work. After Christmas trucks starting getting delayed and omicron started making things difficult. I noticed my boss who I had been getting along with started getting more and more frustrated and started taking it out on his staff verbally. He had made a few rude comments to me but I let most of them go as I understand he's stressed. Today I was doing a frozen order and with 4 hours left in my shift he said he wanted 5 skids done before I left. I was also doing this alone. I calmly told him I didn't feel confident that I could finish in time, and that I hadn't taken any of my breaks yet. I…
