I may have spoken my mind today
I work at a newish pharma company which is generally well run with a really nice company culture. I've never had a problem with anyone except one colleague I work with who has been called a bully, annoying, incompetent and so on by multiple people including myself. Working with him was such a nightmare that my manager hired a supervisor to manage us both under her. The supervisor really hit it off with him and quite honestly they're both widely seen as annoying and incompetent so they kind of stick together and leave me out. Which is honestly ok with me. We work in lab based roles and those two never actually enter the lab except to keep tabs on me. I do almost the entirety of our work and lately I've been working late as a result. The supervisor occasionally says backhanded comments to me implying that she doesn't…
Fuck this RTO B.S.
Team17 is a large UK games publisher and developer. They recently lowered staff morale and angered studios they work with by announcing NFTs. If you want to know more about NFTs I recommend this long video essay from Folding Ideas. Here are excerpts from Eurogamer's “Inside Team17, following the Worms NFT firestorm” (written by Tom Phillips). The whole article is recommended reading: The company's annual bonus has recently become a point of contention, as staff said they had become used to putting in extra hours in the hope of being recognised and rewarded as a result. However, last year's bonuses were abruptly slashed – some by more than £1000 versus what staff were used to – despite Team17 publicly declaring record profits for the first half of 2021. Staff who questioned the sudden reduction in their bonus were told it was a result of first-party titles that had underperformed. “This…
So… about a protest…
You might have seen this post before, ut had gotten taken down for the title. I’m not promoting or suggesting what I had said before, never was. Basically TL;DR: there is nothing stopping us from peacefully protesting by getting a bunch of people to gather and on a specific date we all stop going to work until the government changes things or all works agree to start changing like 5 weeks paid vacation, $15 dollar pay minimum, etc. No one even has to go outside to protest, just stay at home. People will know what we are doing. Protest the work: they can’t overwork us all. To add on I do know not everyone can do this obviously even if they are in support but can’t afford to not work. Anyways here’s the full thing and plan if y’all want: A couple people from other countries have said it. We…
I recently quit my job duw to lack of work life balance. It was so bad that my eyes would hurt when I go to sleep (Yes, a programmer). I was getting paid 50k USD (equivalent to 200k USD PPP adjusted) in India. Did I do the right things?
Hello everyone. I have been on this subreddit for a long time. I have been here, before this subreddit blew up, and I guess I am part of the old guard, one of those who actually wants society to abolish work (forced labour), rather than just reform it. Back in the day, all the time, we had Capitalist trolls coming here to call us lazy or entitled. Some of the smarter ones however, instead, asked the question “If you hate being a wageslave so much, why don't you start your own business / grow your own food?”. And in case any of those Capitalist lurkers are still lurking this subreddit for some reason, here is my answer to that question… or rather, here are my answers: Easier said then done. I'm not sure if the anti-work movement or philosophy has any symphatizers from the upper castes of society, but I'm…
