My boss's boss just requested a meeting with me to tell me that they have been reviewing salaries across the board and they've decided that I deserve a raise! How exciting for me!!! I make $51,000 now. In January I'll be making $51,350. As a business analyst. With a masters degree that includes statistical training.
Category: Antiwork
I’ve been applying for jobs for the past 15 months. Unemployed for over two years and I finally got an offer for my dream job. I just can’t believe it’s real. It is a perfect job and I was able to negotiate a salary above their first initial offer. I start in January and I am just so relieved and over the moon. Wanted to share some good news. I did it!
I'm not complaining and don't make waves, but why should we have to “work” 40 hours if there's only like 5 hours of actual work to be done? The loudest “workaholics” also appear to be the least efficient workers. I feel like they're protecting their job as younger people spent their lives with fast paced video games and smartphones. If I'm wrong or this is just an anecdotal experience, I apologize. I was just curious if I'm alone on this.
Landlord/AntiLandlord question
I have a question that I think this subreddit is probably most relevant to answer. It’s slightly off topic but it’s about being a landlord, more specifically Section 8. Is section 8 ethical? I know a lot of people say being a landlord in general is starting to be viewed more as unethical but I was wondering people’s general feelings about section 8 landlords.
Just abandoned an application for a company that demands you take an assessment quiz before they'll accept your application. No fucking way am I spending 30 minute-1 hour of unpaid labor to help your algorithm or AI screen me for you so I can be rejected simply for saying I “slightly agree” with the wrong thing. Fuck any manager that thinks they can make you answer a 100+ QUESTION QUIZ knowing full well that the majority of applications received will be auto-rejected before a human has ever laid eyes on them. I am not wasting my time on that shit and no one else should either. Unless you are already in the interview process and have discussed the terms of employment on the table, then things like this only show they simply think of you as a number and will never respect or value you.
