My first job I had I worked at a drug store. I started as a cashier then moved up rather quickly. Photo tech, worked in the pharmacy, then finally moved to a different store as a shift lead. I did the job fairly well and slowly overtime started developing anxiety issues. Mostly it was the 3rd shift hours in a bad area, mixed with shoplifters, Karens, incompetent cashiers and other issues. Eventually moved to day shift and it got a little better in the sense of having more coworkers to help me out. Worked for six years and I could feel it mentally catching up. I was angry all the time and glaring at the door wanting to just walk out. I was destroying myself cause I wanted to help my coworkers but at a certain point noticed most of them were not doing the same for me. I’m talking…
Category: Antiwork
The amount of money companies are making, soaring profits, I don’t understand how working is a “get a job or starve” situation we live in. Also, the whole “back to the office” fight, and this morning I heard about 16 companies are going to implement a 4 day working week – great news but again, why isn’t this a norm? And don’t get me started on AI, and how they’re GoInG tO cOmE foR yOuR JobS. Yeah I wish it would, if ai can be automated for jobs then that’s great because that means that person can be used for something more productive, such as spend time with their family, or a different job if they choose. Let me know your thoughts
I've had enough. People are getting promoted left and right just because they have a personal connection to the boss's family. They're not qualified. They started lecturing us in what to do. I've been excelling and getting great feedback for the 3rd year on a row. She doesn't have the basic skill. There has been an earthquake again and they called me to come to the office. The employee getting the promotion was there telling us how important it is to do our jobs in crises. YOU DONT EVEN DO IT WELL OUTSIDE THE DISTRESS OF A CRISIS. I'm doing it I don't know what to do afterwards. I need to get out of this place. It starts with this toxic office.
Paychecks will likely be even later.
Part 1 TLDR Pt 1: Payroll wasn’t run on time at the small company I work at. Because of the holiday instead of being paid on Friday we would be paid on Tuesday (because Monday was a holiday). I’m fine, I’m in a stable financial position but many of my coworkers are not. I’ve been debating quitting this job for a bit to focus on my own small business again anyway. It’s now past midnight on Tuesday morning and still no paystub has been generated on our payroll system. I usually don’t track when those show up very closely, but one would think it would be there by now. Tomorrow my plan is to wake up and check my bank account. If it’s not there I will be sending a message to our entire department group chat asking if anyone got their deposit. Inevitably everyone will say no and I’ll…
possible petition?
If someone were to start a real petition for the government to start creating more work/employees friendly laws, what all would you want to see? Free health benefits? Real leave time? A rule to deter employers from calling you in or asking why you are calling off? 4 day work week with only four hours?
“no one wants to work anymore”?
I have severe ptsd and was recently at a job and family service building to get help with my resume and help finding a job that’s accommodating. The employee went on this rant to me about how “there’s no job shortage, there’s plenty of jobs out there, people just don’t want to work anymore because now they can just live off government assistance.” How? What does she mean? I couldn’t get disability benefits having PTSD. My uncle had recurring seizures and couldn’t get it either. He was homeless and died in his sleep. From a seizure. Who are these able bodied “lazy” people who can just sign up for unemployment or disability benefits and live the cushy life for good? Where tf are they at? I don’t get it anymore. At my last job, customers would say that to me all the time. They’d congratulate me for working because “you…
