I'm a team leader and have the intention to ask my employer to have my working days changed from:
Mon-Thu (07:00 – 16:00) +30min unpaid break/day
Friday (07:00 – 13:00) no break
40h/week (this is how my colleagues work too)
To:
Mon-Thu (07:00 – 17:30) +30min unpaid break/day
40h/week
The reasons for this is are:
– Increase department's availability by 1.5h/day
– Give my deputy more responsibility so that he can make decisions on his own and become more independent
– Better work/life balance (I've been here the longest and I'm burned out; I'm not able to disconnect from work anymore; I overthink constantly; and my health is being affected – sleep issues/constant headaches due to stress)
In my opinion, this is a win/win situation for the company and I'd obviously remain working my 40h/week. The current colleagues in my department have no objections on this, they want to work Mon-Fri. However, I know that my employer will ask me what if at some point they'd like to have it this way?
I would need your help with some arguments for this, saying that I'm the team leader, that I've been here the longest and that I'm burned out is not enough I believe.
Thank you all in advance!
