Today is the last straw. To be honest it’s been a long time coming but I’m finally quitting my job tomorrow. I (20f) work part time at a small restaurant where I’ve worked since I was 16. I was clocked out of my shift early (over staffing because booking cancelled) and was waiting for my cousin to finish his shift so I could drop him home, I was talking to my friend the bartender while she was closing down when chef called service for some desert waiting on the pass, when I didn’t immediately move he started shouting from the kitchen at me to take the food and wouldn’t let me explain that I was finished and was calling to one of my colleagues to take the deserts, so I just ignored him and finished my conversation. 15- 20 minutes later i was still at the bar when my manager asked me to grab another coworker who was in the kitchen, when I went into the kitchen he asked me why i was still here and started shouting at me again and told me to “get the fuck out my restaurant” so I just said okay grabbed my stuff and walked out.
I’ve only stayed as long as I have because of my coworkers/ friends but I can’t continue to work for people who have no respect for me anymore. It isn’t the first time he’s sworn at me like this and after last time and the conversation we had with my manager he said it wouldn’t happen again.
I have so many other instances where he or my manager (his wife) have taken advantage of or shown a general lack of respect for me and my other coworkers, but this is really the straw that broke the camels back. I was originally going to give my 2 weeks notice but fuck that and them.
