Classify Samsung US Sales Experts As Employees

Ibbü is a platform by iAdvize that is contracted out by Samsung US to operate the Sales chats on samsung.com. Ibbü hires independent contractors as Experts for various product categories on samsung.com (Computing, Home Appliance, Mobile, and TV). These Experts receive no set hourly pay, just a commission (1.5% of every sale), meaning they are not paid if the customer does not purchase a product on samsung.com. From members of the LGBTQ+ community, single parents, disabled individuals, college students and dropouts, our community of Experts is an amazing group of human beings from across the United States who are being taken advantage of by the 15th most profitable company globally. From members of the LGBTQ+ community, single parents, disabled individuals, college students and dropouts, our community of Experts is an amazing group of human beings from across the United States who are being taken advantage of by the 15th most profitable company globally.

Every Friday Ibbü will send out warnings to Experts who've underperformed in customer satisfaction or sales. Once an Expert has received 3 warnings in their Ibbü Mission they will be terminated. Experts also don't have any further access than a general consumer. So if a customer asks if a product is in stock or when it will be back, we simply don't know.

Experts are advertised as being able to make up to $25 an hour, but there are many days where an Expert could work for 8 hours and receive just $15 in commission for 1 sale, or less. This is due in part by a massive amount of Customer Support chats that are routed to Ibbü Experts, who can only handle sales and are in no way trained even in how to diagnose Samsung Financing issues at check out; much less how to mount a customer's new television.

Ibbü seemingly does not take into account how Customer Service and chats where no sale is possible will effect an Expert's customer satisfaction or sales statistics, and will send a warning out to the Expert regardless. Ibbü does not care how this may negatively effect their Experts financially or mentally, as these warnings are often vague and offer no advice or training in how one may improve their statistics.

Ibbü Experts should receive at least a minimum wage of $15 per hour in addition to the current 1.5% commission, as well as all the legally required benefits and protections of an employee in the United States.

Why is this important?

This is a human rights issue.

There are LGBTQ+ individuals who rely on Samsung US and iAdvize as the only place who will accept them. These people need to be protected.

There are single parents who rely on Samsung US and iAdvize as their sole source of income. These people need to be protected.

There are disabled individuals who rely on Samsung US and iAdvize as the only job that will allow them the flexibility they need. These people need to be protected.

There are college students and dropouts who rely on Samsung US and iAdvize as the only job that will allow them to work from home or their dorm. These people need to be protected.

We are human beings who just want to help customers pick out a new phone, television, refrigerator, or laptop. But we'd also like to be treated with respect and be paid a living wage while doing it. We don't want something radical, we want something equitable.
