The company brags on its Conservative Christian values (one of the core values of the company is Faith). Today there's a link in my email to a 9 minute video of the president (who is the son of the owner /CEO) talking about the mass shooting of grade school children and teachers in Uvalde TX, which is some 90 minutes from the company HQ in San Antonio. He talks a while then starts reading aloud from some book of prayers. Hearing someone else pray feels like I was involved in something very private, like he was on the toilet.
He was completely silent about the racist Buffalo massacre. He also didn't address mass shootings between the two more famous ones that happened in Houston and Amarillo (according to the gun violence archive).
The email that accompanied the video link had talking points for how to talk to your kids about what happened. Again. About asking them what they feel IS safe about their school. This just feels like mental manipulation so they can just rely on thoughts and prayers again instead of real change. Meanwhile they staunchly oppose anything like better school funding, raises for teachers, any form of gun control of course, or national single payer health care (which would save the company a lot of money and give access to mental health care). They have also built an oligarchy where the rest of us feel hopeless and powerless. Especially young people like the kid that just shot up a bunch of school children.
