I’ve worked a bunch of min wage jobs and every one of them has done a promotion something like this:
“All the stores in our franchise are doing a competition, and whoever brings sales up the most gets a Pizza Party!!!!!1!”
Do not work any harder than you have to. They’re trying to make more profit without paying for it. I’m always the scapegoat for not pushing myself above and beyond because I’m not doing it for a stupid pizza slice. I can buy a pizza myself if you give me the raise I deserve.
TLDR; they know they don’t pay us enough to demand more work so they distract with bread and circuses
