I am a purchasing guy for a manufacturing company that doesn’t pay vendors and some employees on time. At least 2 other workers have voiced that their checks either bounced or were weeks late, or both.
Everyday I get emails and phone calls from vendors asking for payment updates, some threaten us with collections or removing our credit terms.
If we don’t need them to ship material the current week, they get ignored.
This is a company that ships $1 million a month in product, yet some of these bills are months and months due even on NET90!! While some are tens of thousands, some are less than $200 which points to sheer negligence.
I’ve been here for 8 months but I personally feel like a greasball everyday I come to work for this company and I see those emails or phone calls get ignored. Total disregard for other parties involved.
My favorite is when the engineers ask for an update on parts, and my boss asked me NOT to tell them in detail that parts are on hold due to account status. “Just say management is working on it.”
How common is this with small businesses? Am I overreacting? Because there are tenured employees who don’t seem to give a shit.
TLDR:
Job lacks respect, professionalism, business ethics, morals and doesn’t pay vendors/employees on time.
