I worked at this company for almost 3 years. I ended up being the manager of my department. Was doing that for almost a year and I loved it. I personally thought I was doing good and taking care of business. A new GM was hired and I thought I was getting along with him. One Monday morning I get called into HR office and the GM is there. They proceed to tell me that a new department manager is hired and I will be the “assistant” manager. I never got told I was doing a bad job or that they were even planning on hiring a new guy. I tell them that I'd rather quit than be an assistant. They didn't even offer me anything to try and get me to stay. Now that company is shutting down one of it's divisions due to cost cutting. Anyway I'm glad I left but I miss the people I worked with.
