I was contracted to TekSystems (a staffing agency) for employment and they misfiled my employment status to the wrong state as a remote worker. I caught the mistake early on but it was two paystubs worth paid to the wrong state.
They've acknowledged it was confusion on their end for onboarding despite the two states applied for taxes (one for my resident state and one for the nonresident state)
As we all know each additional state for IRS tax filing costs $50 which I've asked reimbursement for. If I didn't catch this error then this would've resulted in IRS penalties on my end and higher taxes as well. After 2 months of back and worth that was the end decision.
TekSystems is owned by Allegis Group and their CEO is Steven Biscotti who paid $600 million for the Ravens in 2000 and an additional $325 million a total of $925 million. His “charity” donations amount to $1 million which is literally 1/1000 of his payments of a sports team.
The recruiter I worked with was very kind in even offering money out of his own pocket to fix this issue but I said it's the matter of principles and he shouldn't have to. I've explicitly said once he switches out of TekSystems I'll be able to refer him to other persons for positions of interests but until then my disapproval will be severing our relationship.
Fuck you TekSystems I won't send referrals or connect with anyone on your end again. Here for awareness in case you are employed through them and/or thinking of going through them.
