I was a manager (not all of us are bad) for a large retail corporation and I was in a meeting where they were bragging about how much profit they made in our stateyear over year. They had shown us a slide of how much more they made this year than last year not including what they made last year just how much the difference was of the profit they made last year and this year. Then they showed us a slide of costs and one of the costs was employees of course. Well I did the math and they could of paid every employee in my state double what they were paying us for just 2% of the amount of profit that they made . This wasn't 2% of total profit it was 2% of the amount in profit that they made more than last year. That means if last year they made 1 billion and this year they made 2 billion they could of paid everyone in the company double for 2% of 1 billion. It opened my eyes for years all I wanted to do was move up. Not because I wanted to be upper management but because I didn't make enough and would never make enough in the position I was in. That money went to the top 1% of the company and why? Did they work harder than me? I doubt they got spit on by customers and had to deal with viable death threats. Nope they made more than the entire state combined and here I was trying to move up to make more. If we don't force company's to pay us more they never will.
