Dealing with entitled customers.

I’m a Ford service advisor. The amount of people that think calling Ford is the answer to their ridiculous requests is absurd. This one guy came in today complaining that his van was making a noise and that he wanted to know if it was safe to drive it. After telling him I was short staffed and advised him that the vehicle would be at the shop for a couple of weeks before a technician could look at it (both my truck techs are out sick), it was as if I insulted this guy’s ancestors or something, as he replied with “EXCUSE ME??!!!” So my manager came to see what was wrong and he had someone take a look at it real quick. I ask the guy for the keys and he literally throws them at me in front of other customers. I should have thrown him out right then…

This one guy came in today complaining that his van was making a noise and that he wanted to know if it was safe to drive it. After telling him I was short staffed and advised him that the vehicle would be at the shop for a couple of weeks before a technician could look at it (both my truck techs are out sick), it was as if I insulted this guy’s ancestors or something, as he replied with “EXCUSE ME??!!!”

So my manager came to see what was wrong and he had someone take a look at it real quick. I ask the guy for the keys and he literally throws them at me in front of other customers. I should have thrown him out right then and there. Turns out the water pump was on it’s way out (pulley on it had a lot of play on it).

So then after I tell him he needs an appointment because of lack of mechanics, his reply is the same again, “EXCUSE ME????!!!” So he storms off and says he’s gonna call other dealerships that “actually want to work”. A couple of hours later, we get a phone call from Ford, calling on behalf of Mr. Entitled Prick. We told them the exact same thing we told him. Not sure what he was expecting.
