Debating on whether to just let them push me out or just “surprise” quit at the worst time

So I've worked for the same boss for 25 years. When I was hired as operations staff and then became a operations manager. I do manage locations but I've never been good at the sales side. I'm more the person who deals with repairs, store set ups contract negotiations, and making sure everything runs smoothly. The job has been long hours, but the pay has been good. Also I typically get left alone and I don't mind the long hours because I like to keep busy anyway. But the last couple of years things have changed. The boss hired a sales manager 5 years ago and over time things have changed. Then covid happened and things really changed. The lower staff got paid more to stay, the sales manager got to work from home to “protect him”. Then I found out he was getting paid more than me. Not…

Not much, but a little. But at the time I knew business was for sale so I stuck it out, because honestly I would like very much for the place to be sold because I have a severance pay bonus of 2 weeks per year if the place is sold and then unemployment on top of it if I need it. So I bit my tongue.

So during the peak of covid our business did quite well with everyone at home, but now that people are going back to work sales have been slipping for the past year. And I've started getting muttering statements from the boss like “if you paid more attention to our business you'd know about this.” regarding sales issues. There's been a bunch of other issues as well regarding operational stuff. Like everything has become a fight to get done. Things are breaking down and if it affects me it doesn't matter, but if it affects the sales manager it needs to be fixed immediately. Like if a pallet jack breaks it doesn't get replaced and I'll still hear why it's taking so long to do things and having a broken jack isn't an excuse. But setting up a new laptop for the sales manager because his is 2 years old is a top priority.

Then 6 months ago I found out the sales manager is buying into the company and starting with a location I found that is very close to the location I'm currently working out of. The original idea was that I would cover both of these locations and staff would be shared because they're so close and we have trouble getting help. Now that the sales manager is buying in all that is off the table. On top of that it will eat away at the sales in the location I'm based out of and now I'll have to do operational support for this new location on top of my current duties.

Then came last week. Got a call from the boss regarding my locations sales. It had a really rough week and the boss basically said sales suck there and it's my responsibility and if things don't improve then he'll have to go in a different direction. So I've been kinda stunned this week. I feel like I'm now being blamed for a problem that isn't part of my job and has nothing to do with my job. And I'm pretty sure that regardless I'm going to be kicked out the door before he sells totally so he doesn't have to pay severance.

Part of me wants to just walk out the door, part of me wants to wait until the new location is running and then go and part of me wants to just give 10% and wait for them to push me out the door.
