I am a mechanic. I am certified and have 20 years of experience. Over the last few years the daily aches and pains have begun to affect me outside of work, to the point that when I get off work, I just want to sit in my recliner with a heating pad on my back. After work I am so physically burnt out I dread having to keep up with the house. I have zero energy left over or my body aches so bad I am in no mood to do anything. Last August I suffered an injury to my right elbow at work that resulted in surgery. I look at my co-workers in there late 50's and realize the road I am headed down. Arthritis and riddled with pain. I don't want to end up like that. So I made a profile and posted my resume on indeed over a year ago and stated in my resume that I was looking to move away from a technician role and into a service advisor or similar position. That way I can still use my knowledge, but not have to use my body. Every week my inbox was flooded with job offers, but not for service advisor positions, but with mechanic positions. For a few months I just declined the offers. Then it got to the point where I went in and edited my resume and made a bold, all capitalized and underlined header that stated. YES I AM CURRENTLY A TECHNICIAN, HOWEVER IAM NOT INTERESTED IN A TECHNICIAN POSITION, I AM LOOKING FOR A SERVICE ADVISOR/MANAGER POSITION. ( For my first 10 years at my current employer I was a tech and assistant service manager). So, literally the first thing you see/read on my resume is that header. Still, every week, countless job offers for Technician. This has led me to believe not a single damn employer or recruiter even takes the time to read the first line of a resume. My guess is they just spam inboxes and hope for the best. I even receive offers that are completely irrelevant and not even in the same field. Why should I even take the time and effort to write a resume if you lazy assholes can't even read the first line. Sorry to rant, but this shit is rediculous. Why would I even consider working for you as a technician, if you can't even read a single fucking line of my resume.
