Do YOU have to put in overtime to make up for every vacation/sick day you use?

Just curious if this is typical/inescapable. I’m so tired of having to put in overtime after every vacation day I use. At least 50% of the vacation days I use are forced because it’s use-it-or-lose-it, and HR gets funny when you lose it. It’s not exactly fun being forced to take off and then work through the early evening the next day. Our workloads are just too heavy for full days off without consequences. Technically management doesn’t ”require” the overtime but unless you wanna get heavily dinged for not completing your work, yeah, it’s required.
