Do you tip for take out/to go orders?

So I’m curious, I was talking to a buddy and this topic came up. Should we be or not be tipping for a take out/to go order? Example: to go order at chili’s. Were you go inside and pick up the order. Also what about those places where you go to a counter and place your order and you pick up the order from the counter. No service is being provided as far as bringing you your order, refilling drinks, picking up trash. Just for context, I worked in a restaurant where I took people their to go orders to their cars and several people didn’t tip and it didn’t bother me because I wasn’t providing them with a service. Also, I’ve heard that TIPS is a acronym for To Insure Proper Service. If no service is provided, other than what fast food restaurants do, do you tip? Why and…
