This was advice given by my program director regarding what to do once we graduate PA school. We are in a grueling, 27 month program with NO BREAKS and many of us are on antidepressants and hardly making it. One of the students asked what they suggest we plan to do close to graduation, and that's what she said.
“I said “jokingly”, “I don't like your advice””. But in my head, I was thinking, we have all been through the meatgrinder and lost all touch with reality, friends and any semblance of a social life. I have been living in a cave at school/studying 80+ hours per week, have to miss out on any important event in my life, and have not had any free time in ages. They beat us down like we are in the military. And instead of telling us to enjoy a little week or two off if we survive long enough to graduate, NO! We must IMMEDIATELY ENTER THE GRIND or we will never get hired!
You think with all this Covid/mental well being crap they preach, and we have been living through, they would encourage us to catch our breath after everything. I just can't believe the mentality of everything.
