I applied for this out of state job in October to live near my family. After 2 interviews In the middle of November they let me know I did not get the job. Then they ask me to apply for a different but similar position. At this point it’s late November, and they ask me to do a presentation. All the interviews went fairly well and they told me they would reach out before December 15th.
During December I never heard anything from them. I called/email throughout the whole month of December and didn’t hear anything.
I automatically assumed they ghosted me and that was it.
Now it’s late January.
I get a call of them apologizing and still wanting to move forward. They sent me a background screening. I pass the background and now it’s February. Then they let me know they are going to call with a job offer. 2 weeks pass and nothing. I call/email and still no response. Now they reach out to me to tel me they were going to call me with a job offer so I literally put my life on pause. I am so excited about this opportunity and I begin to prepare. I began to pack, I’m currently getting my masters so I switched my schooling online. My family begins to assist me with finding a place to stay. I literally put everything on hold for my partner and I.
Then 2 weeks pass and nothing. I’m concerned and I’m stressed. I call and still nothing. I’m thinking to myself they ran my background, who would be my future boss straight up told me they wanted to hire me. So I’m thinking to myself HR must be really swamped.
Last night I get an email at 8:30ish PM they do not want to move forward with me. I’m so disappointed and shocked. They dragged me for 3 months. Literally the last month was extremely stressful and exciting because i was expecting this big move.especially when your future boss calls you about how they are excited about you joining the team. Now I’m super pissed off. I had plans to begin my drive this Friday, now it’s like my life reset. This was a government position.
Screw them.
