Dutch bagage handlers strike over horrible labor conditions

So, the 'May holiday' just started here in The Netherlands. It's an annual 2 week vacation when schools are closed and many people go on a short holiday. Given the past 2 years many people want to get away from it all, causing a huge spike in flights from our national airport. However, with the current labor situation, there is a shortage of bagage handlers. Our biggest airline, KLM, thought they were smart and hired an outside contractor to fill the gaps. Staff was apparently informed by email on Thursday evening. Instead of carrying on, they decided to start a strike this morning. It was unannounced and 'unorganized' as we call it in NL. Basically meaning that management didn't know until it happened. The handlers say that hiring an outside agency will not change the horrible labor conditions they face. And that management has refused to address these issues. 7…

7 flights have already been cancelled. That's what you get when you refuse to address bad labor conditions in a hot labor market.
