is this for real? they can do this? I should have read my contract for this year more closely, but I've been working at the same company for 5 years and this was not in the contract when I started.
for context: most educators elect to get paid on a 9-month basis or 12-month basis. You don't technically get “paid” over the summer months, they simply make your paychecks smaller and stretch them out for longer.
I chose the 12-month option. Quit in March.
Now finding out I won't get paid for June, July, or August, despite having worked 2/3 of the school year. I assumed I would get a sum of money proportional to my time worked (i.e., 2/3 of summer pay).
I wasn't getting paid a lot but MAN it still don't feel right.
