Employee Housing

I was venting to a friend about working so hard for the wage I make and how it seems like a massive hill to climb for a raise with the rising costs of materials, labor, etc. on the owners end. He raised the idea that the future of work may mean that employers buy property for they’re employees to live rent free (I assume a more likely scenario is just reduced price). Just curious if anybody else has talked about this and if not what your opinion on my friends thought was. My personal thought was that it would be great to subsidize rent for the employees, only downside is that you now have to interact with people you may want a break from at the end of your day.
