Employer changed my work from home position to hybrid after I paid for my office- detrimental reliance?

So I work in the insurance industry. I do not have direct contact with customers. Before the pandemic they were waiting on requisitions to allow me to work from home permanently but the pandemic happened and we were all sent home. During the transition to hybrid for most claims employees they came out with a list of jobs that would be remote and hybrid and I was defaulting to remote. My boss asked if I’d prefer remote or hybrid and I told him remote. I paid $8000 to convert my dining room into an office for myself in January. Yesterday they announced people whose roles were defaulting to remote would switch to hybrid and now I have to go back to an office where I have nobody in my department in because they are all in a different state. Makes no sense! Come into the office to do my zoom…

I have until October to figure out if I’m staying there but if I did stay how successful would I be in proving a case for detrimental reliance? I wouldn’t have converted the dining room to an office if I wasn’t told I was permanently working from home.
