I live in Michigan and I’m getting my wisdom teeth removed next week so I asked for hr to clarify fmla time for me. While speaking with hr they told me that they would be taking half of my remaining vacation days if I qualify for fmla. I only have 1 vacation day left to use this year but it still seems unfair and possibly illegal to penalize me for using fmla time. I also spoke with my supervisor and he said that when he got into a motorcycle accident a few years back they also took half his vacation days away, so this is something that they’ve always done. They did say that I’ll still get paid out for the time they locked at the end of the year. Just wondering if anyone knows if this is standard procedure or if they are up to some shady shit
TLDR:company blocks half of your remaining vacation days if you have to take fmla time off. Is this legal?
