Is it legal for an employer to withhold my cheque from me until I return my uniform? For background information I’m based in Toronto, Ontario and recently quit my job.
Within a couple of hours of quitting, the boss made somebody drive back to the restaurant to “hold” my cheque for me because they “want to discuss” the reason I quit. I don’t really see the point of this because I don’t even work there anymore, what is there to talk about? I also told them I quit bc of stress. Lots of stress: from stealing tips, being harassed and bullied by the owner. I had to go into my savings to pay off my student loans bc they weren’t scheduling me according to my availability.
I feel that I was discriminated against because of my medication. The owner forced me to tell her what my medication is for and was unsatisfied when I told her it was “from the hospital” and “for ADHD” (it’s an SSRI, actually). When I told her it was for my anxiety and stuff that’s when she slowly started to treat me poorly
