My Employer just enacted 22 weeks parental leave. No longer going through a 3rd party service who handled it before (we were at 12). It's now directly through company and no longer needed to use STD. And you can use these 22 weeks at anytime within the first year, before, after, and in day increments if wanted. There's still opportunity for you to use FMLA of course, but this is a standalone benefit.
This is one of the many benefits…like backup childcare/family care (if you're a caregiver to your parents) of $100 a day reimbursement for up to 60 days in a year.
Some companies are doing right. Let's hope others follow suit.
