Hey, r/antiwork. I've started a new summer job at a fairly popular restaurant chain before school starts up again, and after researching I've noticed some issues with my employer.
https://dli.mn.gov/business/employment-practices/age-restrictions-working-teens
The MN government specified that minors under the age of 16 are not permitted to work past 9, but sometimes they are kept to close the store at 11:00 or later.
It also says that they cannot work more than 40-hour shifts, but some kids have been automatically signed up for 45 or more hours a week.
Any advice on how to stop the employer from taking advantage of these kids I work with? I hate seeing them exhausted from working back to back night shifts.
Edit! I am also underage, 17. Old enough to be exempt from these rules.
