So it's a pretty well known US national franchise, my store just opened the weekend before last and my first day was the Wednesday before that and day one, they were already committing serious OSHA violations (which has continued, to myself and multiple others, every day, to gig day. And I will be filling a formal complaint once I'm either feeling a bit more secure in my employment since my employer will have to be notified of the file which includes my name and the details of what I filed for, or if i become too disheartened by their bullshit to continue investing any more time into this job. But I regress tho). They also lost my food handler's card 6 days after my start, even tho I had accidentally printed the card out about 12x the size that normal FHCs are, so the image of the card took up the whole top half of the 9×11 page it was printed on lmao but yet they still manage to ew 0somehow lose it? Yeah yall sure do have your shit together done ya…
Alright so there's been this womanm who's been training everyone and I knew she was leaving after 2-3 weeks so I pretty much figured she was like one of those corporate sent trainers to help set up new stores and shit right, because the store manager who, on my first day said to me “ok so this is [trainer lady's name] and she's gonna train you today”. So like, no title or into regarding who she is to this company because of course not why the fuck would they who the fuck cares? That's just a small foreshadow of how abhorrent their communication is – so last night my coworker tells me she's gone now, and come to fuckin find out she is the god damn store fucking owner jebus help us lmfao..
■ K so the day before yesterday owner lady tells me “we can't find our copies of your SSC and ID so can you bring those back in for us?” and since my dumb blonde ass had forgotten to take my SSC from my wallet and put it back in its safe spot at home so I figured prefect I'll let her make the copies rn so that I can put SSC back right away when I got home. That worked out well.
Then tonight in the middle of my nightly talk shit fest featuring this under cover clown show of a business, I mentioned to my partner this whole lost info debacle that happened the day before – gods damn I am so thoroughly embarrassed and ashamed of myself for not being immediately aware of how fucked up beyond measure such negligence is. I mean I am fully aware of my state's worker's rights and i been knowing this typa shit. But for some reason it didn't register until Isaid it out loud a day later.
■ Now owner lady is gone back home and it's just my manager left and she has been really annoyed of my lately because a) when I start a new job I always be asking hella questions because it fucks me up if I don't feel really confident in shit I should know and know how to do in my job. b) I prefer to ask questions now instead of guessing, fucking up and having to do it over again with someone hovering over me pissed off and judging me like I'm stupid. c) Communication is fucking huge for me fr (as clearly indicated by the major verbosity that i can never seen to abstain from lol), not like the 99% of people who say they are big on communication only to either be lying about it to talk themselves up, or genuinely believe they are “big” (aka “good” ) on it, but in reality they are legitimately THE. WORST. FUCKING. COMMUNICATORS. of. all. TIMES. So all of that, on top of alllllllllll the dozens and dozens of misscommunication and contradictive as all fuck instructions and prices that I've been getting from both owner, manager and coworkers multiple times a day since day 1, yeah, manager isn't even trying to hide her increasing annoyance of me, nor the judgy ass looks that scream at me how r-word she thinks I am, nor answer my questions with the kind of answers that are intended to make me feel really dumb for not knowing this very obvious answer/not knowing how to easily find the very obvious answer, and feel like I'm pressured to grovel at her for daring to so carelessly waste her time which will act as my harrowing reminder to forever think thrice before ever being so frivolously disrespectful of her time… Even tho that info she just gave me was info i very clearly already was aware of as i had already explained in my question to her… (me- “hey where's that inventory list with all the prices again? X and X out on the shelf don't have tags anywhere on them?” . Manager- “price is on the bottom”…. like no bitch. It fucking is not bitch. I just fucking said that bitch can you fucking read bitch? And you're trying to make me feel like a dumb ass? Fuck you.. )
■ So therein lies my slight problem. Owner is gone but she the one who told me they lost my shot, and the one that I gave my shit back too to make second copies of. And I highly highly highly doubt that she ever told manager about any of this. I have to insist that they take all available measures to find my shit. I also hate confrontation with people I don't know v well and people who I know don't like me but I'm supposed to get along with (ie work relationships, in laws, etc.), so its already gonna hard on me in that sense, and on top of that i can all but guarantee that this authority figure, who is only after 2 weeks (I called out for 5 days in a row during week 2 because i was so exhausted from having worked 5.25 hrs non stop for my first 3 days because they never mentioned breaks and I didn't want to put the effort into asking them for my breaks – even tho I was fully aware that they are my legal right in this state [hence, the OSHA viols that I mentioned earlier.] because a) was brand new and honestly days1&2 went by ok without breaks at the time but caught up real quick day3 tho. And b) no one else was taking breaks either and all of them had gotten there before me too. Soooooo fucking fucked up. There's ever hella 16yo who haven't worked anywhere before and when I asked them about their breaks they all tell me that they don't get a break [meaning not that the employer has explicitly said that they get no breaks. Just that no one has ever gone up to them and said hey, time to take your 10. I told these poor poor girls that it is their absolute fucking right to have at least [1] paid 10min break during their 4hr shift, with a 30min unpaid lunch break as well as the 10 if their shift is 5.5hrs long. Per our state laws. I've pulled this info up on the official gov OSHA site and everything. But they still don't take it because I'm not the one with the authority to give them these breaks. Poor fucking girls…. again tho, I will be contacting OSHA about this soon. And in the meantime I have been telling the girls to ask for their breaks, not just wait to be told when to take them [which is what those of us who have gone up to management asking about our breaks], but bless their lil baby angel hearts, they don't want to come off lazy and needy for asking about such an exquisite luxury as breaks are 🥺🥺]…. so yeah, I'm only 2 weeks in and manager is already giving me constant nasty vibes that just barely pass as “appropriate”. So I just know that she is absolutely gonna 1) doubt me. Say that she doesn't know anything about it, meaning owner never said anything to her about it. Then she'll tell me to bring it up to owner about it. Which is just her way to sweeping it under the rug, knowing that there's a 99% chance it'll just be forgotten. AND/or, 2) she is going to retaliate to some way or another. Could be like either in a more intensed up vibe of the bitchybitch that she has been to me lately, or she could be offended by my daring to insist such a thing and proceed to like boutright call me out to my face or something. Or maybe all 3 and while still leaving room to harbor a grudge about it and taking said grudge out on my actively from here on until who knows when. HOPEFULLY she proves me wrong tho and does care to try and correct this 🤞🤞
■■■ But what I wanna know is, aside from insisting they look and find their original copies, what kind of action can/should I take against them to hold them accountable for the fuck up in the first place as well as compensation for it should they not be able to find them?
