I've had a few rotten interviews in the past. Last year, I almost walked out on one that asked me if I had children. I didn't and then asked them why and they chuckled and said “well, we're just curious. We don't want any 'baby momma drama' at work”…
Anyway, yesterday, I went to another interview. It was just a name-brand pastry franchise paying minimum wage, but I was asked to bring my resume in paper (even though I already sent it through the job website). I was asked about my employment history and I only really added my most recent history and college education, but they kept asking me over and over about my elementary education. I told them I was homeschooled for a few years and got my GED when I was around the same age as most highschoolers (I just needed extra time and tutoring because I had a math difficulties). They asked me how old I was when I started getting homeschooled and what programs I was involved in during that time, etc. I was like, fuck me if I remember because I was in 6th grade when I did this! And I'm in my mid 30s now. They barely asked me about my recent job history, but really wanted to know why I was homeschooled, why I went to said elementary school, as though it means anything to my current relevant job history. They just said they were just trying to get to know my personality and that's why they were interested. I was confused because what does my 6th grade self have anything to do with this job interview?
These employers are getting to be some grade A weirdos, man. I'm so turned off by this shit, I wish I could quit work, but I'm fucked. I need to pay rent, but I'm stuck dealing with this horseshit. Steaming right now
