I work for a large, non unionized grocery chain. We have biannual reviews which come with a raise based on merit. This past week they told 2 dozen of my coworkers at my location they would have a reduction in pay effective immediately. Boss mentioned he’s just the messenger, and he’s so sad to share this but a million employees across the company are dealing with 10-50 cent wage reductions. The only reason I didn’t get a reduction is because they are 5 months late giving my review. Guess who is getting a fat bonus for making labor this quarter? Not us, that’s for sure.
