So I recently interviewed for a project manager position for a local manufacturer. The job was posted at $40k-$60k. Interviewed with the owner of the company alone, took me on a tour of the facility, and offered me the job on the spot, except he said, I’m thinking about bringing you in for 90 days at $18/hr, and then after that we can talk about a review. That’s just over $37k a year which is even below the starting offer they listed. I’m overqualified for the position and only applied because it close to home and I know can do the job easily. They want me to start Monday morning, what do I say and or do? Is this even legal? It feels like the old bait and switch to me, it’s false advertising. Any advice is greatly appreciated as I’m not sure I am comfortable taking a job that low with hopes I get a raise after 90 days. Do I just tell them to screw off? Or take the position, prove my worth, and hope they pay me what I’m worth? Thanks in advance!
