I just had the most interesting conversation with a client, hes owned a franchise fast food joint in a small city for the past year. We get talking and he goes off about the labour shortage so I joked “pay them more? Inflation been terrible haha” and he countered with he had to make a profit too. Valid to a point, but people need to pay their bills and you aren't entitled to them working poverty wages to fulfill your dreams.
He THEN continues on to tell me they've lost THIRTY employees in EIGHT MONTHS.
…that's just a wee bit high now isn't it.
And then keeps going that they're doing so well(employees aside) that they want to open a second location! And they just bought a new truck! And he's down here in the city on vacation for a month!
AND YET THEY CANT PAY THEIR WORKERS ENOUGH TO STAY ON????
