Hey all! I haven’t seen a post about this yet on anti work and I just wanted to get the word out!
Many shops that sell on the Etsy platform will be going dormant through April 11 – 18 in order to protest the most recent hike in seller fees.
Over the last few years Etsy has been “Amazon-ifying” the platform, claiming that they are attempting to make the site more efficient and attractive to consumers.
An previous example of this was trying to get sellers to offer free shipping to their customers.
Many of the recent changes to this platform have made it incredibly difficult for sellers to survive. Through the pandemic Etsy has exhibited record sales and revenue for the company. Etsy argues the fee is a benefit for sellers, since it will allow the company to make improvements that will increase sales for merchants on the platform.
I personally call bullshit on these claims as a seller. I have been selling on Etsy for almost a decade and feel that my voice has diminished completely. We as sellers feel powerless. Please join us in our boycott in order to support the demands in place by this creative community
These are our demands:
Cancel the fee increase.
Crack down on resellers with a comprehensive plan that is transparent, so sellers can hold Etsy accountable.
Give ‘Golden’ support tickets to sellers affected by extreme AI actions (account termination, 45/90 day holds, etc.)
End the Star Seller Program.
Give all sellers the ability to opt out of off site ads.
