Look, we all agree that tip-based employment sucks, right? It's uncertain and it's exploitative and it's also a lot of people's best option.
Are the workers being exploited by the restaurants, bars, etc? Yes, absolutely. People are realizing that, and that's part of why there's a shortage of service industry workers right now- because the work, conditions, and pay suck.
Having said all that..
If you don't want to tip, don't go out. Don't go to a restaurant, don't go to the bar, buy booze at the liquor store and cook your own food.
Complaining about the cost of things, when you're actively in control of someone else's ability to pay rent and eat, is classist down-punching. If you're not planning on tipping 20% anyway, you're complicit in the exploitation of your fellow workers. Should the establishments just pay a living wage and charge more? Yes. Do they? No. Are you going there? Then fucking tip like you have some goddamn solidarity or go the fuck home.
