Everyone says “We need a strike” but no one wants to risk going alone. So, how many of you would sign this pledge, and follow through, if it went up on, say, change.org?

We, the undersigned, demand the following immediate changes to the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Fair Minimum Wage Act, and other related laws and regulations: 1) An immediate increase in the minimum wage to $20/hour for all employees, without exception for age, experience, training status, tipping expectations, or any other reason. 2) An immediate end to the “Tipped Credit Against Minimum Wage,” also know as a tipped wage offset. Employers will be required to pay the full minimum wage to all employees, regardless of whether that employee receives tips, and must ensure that all employees receive any and all tips to which they are entitled. 3) An immediate end to any legal distinction between “full-time” and “part-time” work, such that any employee shall be entitled to all benefits available to any other, including but not limited to paid time off, sick time, health insurance, and retirement plan matching. In demonstration of our sincerity in these demands, we, the undersigned, do hereby announce, agree, and compact that we will undertake the following Protected Concerted Activity:

1) When this petition and demand has received five hundred thousand (500,000) signatures, the undersigned will enact a one-day general strike on the first Monday following receipt of the one-millionth signature.

2) After receipt of the first five hundred thousand (5000,000) signatures, we will enact further one-day general strikes on the first business day of any month following which these changes have not been made.

3) We will enact further one-day general strikes on the first Monday following the receipt of each additional five hundred thousand (500,000) signatures.
