Just gotta let this off my chest a little.
So, I got a government job in a hospital. It seemed okay, pay was kinda low for the work but it's union so I figured why not give it a shot.
There was a lot that happened, no training so I had to go through the union just to get some, missed pay on 3 shifts + required out of work training, forced into 12 hour shifts and *constantly* pressured into taking extra shifts on days off, etc. On top of this, I transferred to a different area and the people were just…awful. I was snapped at any time I asked a question, was expected to keep up with people that had been there for decades, and I eventually just couldn't do it anymore.
I ended up ghosting them and not showing up to work. I know it's shitty to do, I have mental health issues that I'm still constantly working on and I vowed to exit situations where I feel there is a real danger to my mental health. This turned into one of those situations, so I left.
2.5 weeks pass, they called my emergency contact to see if I was okay. When they replied that I was fine, they threatened to call the police on me for a “wellness check”, which I didn't know was a thing until I heard that. I thought he was bluffing, from what I read it used the term “loved one” for the person that calls it in, and I certainly have no loving connection with this person.
Well apparently he wasn't bluffing. I came home to everything in my house being noticeably disheveled and a card with a number and a case file on it. I feel like I got robbed, not of property but of my privacy, on top of the added stress…all because I left a job without “properly” leaving it? This just seems like overkill dystopian bullshit.
