Examples of ridiculous standards/policies…

We've all been there. We worked jobs that were lowly-paid, were overworked, and robbed us of our personal lives. I worked a fair share of those jobs and have seen some pretty ridiculous standards and policies all because it seems that they wanted to make rules for everything. Here are some examples of ridiculous standards that I have come across while working for these companies…

  • Canadian restaurant that lacks respect for staff
Staff are not allowed to book time off together. Another policy is kitchen staff having to change out of their uniform to eat in the dining room. Staff were given a three-strike policy for being late.

  • American thrift retailer that is actually a corporation
Staff were not allowed to purchase new items (less than 2 days), but staff are allowed to buy new items at other locations.

  • Canadian rich peopleman's grocery store
Customer service is such a big part of the company that any employee who gets a customer complaints gets written up, but that all depends on the level of favouritism.

  • Canadian discount grocery store
Staff eating discarded food was considered theft and dismissal from the company. Food waste should be a crime.

Share your experiences with ridiculous standards and policies. I can't wait to read all of them.
