F*** this company.

I worked for a large corporation, and after several 12 hour days, lack of work/life balance, constant work load increases, as well as a shitty manager, I finally had enough. I received a call from the district manager, after the manager called and said that we would have another day of just myself and my husband (co-worker). The manager just received an “ok” (as it’s typical for her not to come in). When the district manager called she asked why the manager had to come in. My response? “What are you talking about?” The manager apparently called her and said we needed her to come in (still, never said that to her, all she got was an ok).

The district manager then asked if we had anything to talk about. I responded with yes, but my husband had to leave the office to deal with a homeless person that had broken into the building we worked at, and it would have to wait until he returned.

When he had returned, I had called her back and informed her that we were ready to talk now. When she asked what was going on, we explained that we were getting days off taken away, working extra hours we were not getting either time owed or extra pay for, amongst other illegal work practices.

Her response? “I still don’t understand why the manager needs to come in?”
Me: “I never said that, nor asked her to”
DM: “So, what did you want to talk about?”
Me: “After the amount I have told you about this job, and the lack of caring that has come in from you about your employees, we would like to officially put in our two weeks notice, how would you like us to put in our notice” (me and my husband were hired as a team)
DM: “I’ll send the manager down to collect your keys, and according to your contract, you have a week to vacate the premises”.

This company literally a month beforehand offered us a management position, but we declined since the amount of work and the amount of pay for management wasn’t worth it.

So we tried to at least get 2 weeks of work, would have even trained our replacements, and at least get one more cheque, plus have time to pack and find a new place to live, and instead have no time to do anything.

No wonder that company can’t keep staff when they literally just boot you when you offer 2 weeks.

TDRL: too much work, not enough pay,(technically less than minimum wage) put in 2 weeks notice, got told to hand in keys and given 7 days to move.
