Fear mongering type of articles regarding layoffs?

So I'm not sure if I'm just being paranoid but I've seen quite a few articles lately warning of incoming layoffs all across the world. Now I have not seen this trend really unravel around me irl, maybe because it's too soon but maaaybe also because it's being exagerated. Like when the only examples they give for the layoff trend are some crypto companies or some companies that are more like anecdotal evidence to me (maybe it's just me, that's also why I'm asking) Another thing that I find interesting is that it's being mentioned as some kind of warning for the people who are thinking of resigning. So I guess my personal subjective feeling is that's mostly not a “real” phenomenon happening right now but a type of reaction to workers asking for rights and respect, in the hopes that if people are scared of layoffs everywhere they are…

So I guess my personal subjective feeling is that's mostly not a “real” phenomenon happening right now but a type of reaction to workers asking for rights and respect, in the hopes that if people are scared of layoffs everywhere they are more likely to shut up and put up with more.

I'd be interested to know how other perceive this.
