Antiwork

Fed up with my place of work.

I am a full-time college student, with a part time position as a daycare assistant teacher. I love my babies, but the administration really bursts my bubble. On my non-seasonal breaks for school, I offer to work more hours if they need me and they always do. We are barely staying afloat, short staffing and teachers calling out from work. I try to cover whenever I can. But it’s hard because of my schedule and I struggle with transportation. With gas being so high and not having a drivers license, it is hard. I live 30 minutes away (I live out in the middle of nowhere). Despite how far away I am from work, how busy my schedule is and the struggle of transportation. They still get mad at me when I can’t cover a 3 hour shift on a day that I already have class.

Some of you could say “why don’t you just get another job?“. It’s not that simple. Not only do I love the kids, but I also get a lot of time off for the holidays, and they work with my school schedule (for the most part). I am just tired of being treated this way. I know I am at the bottom of the totem pole, but I am still human.
