I'm quite good at my job and I'm one of the top performers in department (top 2, varying between me one year on the job to someone who's been there for 5 years). There was a posting of a new position in another department under a different manager. It's quite different from what I'm doing. In my current role, we are forced to make odd calls anytime outside our hours, that means calls at 2 am. It's hard for me to get back to sleep. I realized it isn't worth it as this job is a bit over minimum wage. Although remote, not worth getting no sleep in and expected to work the next day for near minimum wage job. No, it is not commissioned or have any overnight extra pay.
I wrote a long sincere letter of how I'm interested in this new role and how I fit in the team under this other manager (mandatory to contact your current manager to apply internally). I even offered help if their department demands increase.
All I got was a “thank you, good luck.” Literally, four word sentence versus a 2 paragraph email.
I'm quite shy but I work hard, I'm even trusted to train new incoming employees to the team. I also sometimes challenge their ideas respectfully, but I guess they took it the wrong way. Sometimes, they steal my ideas and not give credit.
Should I not go to this new position? I felt so disrespected after all the sleepless nights I got and just receiving this four word sentence made me angry.
I did have a major mess up moment that led up to a Director's attention recently, which I'm not too stressed about it and it was already resolved.
