For 10 months I've been working for the government in an ocassional position. This is a retail position (cannabis) and profits are record high and yet all they hire are ocasionals. No guarantee of hours, no benefits etc.
I was overworked by them for months with hopes of getting a permanent position. It never happened and I gave up trying and now have a really good day job with a company I love.
I was doing a shift on the weekends just for fun and some cash which was going great for a couple months but suddenly things changed and my boss started being volatile with the schedule. Not giving me any time.off when requested, scheduling me outside of my availabilities, and ignoring me when I tried to communicate about it.
So I got tired of begging for accommodation and after months of being exploited because the government can't be bothered to give their employees stability but expect their undying dedication and I quit. I didn't show up to my last shift either. It felt good.
