This happened earlier today and I'm still fuming, I recently got my covid booster and got every symptom imaginable; fever, nauesea, pain in entire body, shortness of breath. I texted my manager asking if she could help me find coverage because I could barely get out of bed or even look at my phone because the light was bothering me.
“Please find your own coverage if you are trying to cancel your shift”, Annoyed but fine, I tried but couldn't find anyone so I just came in. I slept, got my fever down, and thought I could just sit at the desk and pretend to work. I came in and even my coworker was suprised to see me, I told him I had to find my own coverage.
My manager hears the comotion comes out and says “Oh, I didn't mean it like that”. Apparently she found coverage for me, but never bothered to tell me. She went away quickly before I could say something. She basically hid from me, when she did talk to me she just repeated what she said how she didn't mean it like that and to let her know if I need to go home early. After 4 hours I asked if I could leave early and she said “Well, call security and ask him if he can come in to finish”
He can only come an hour early, so I had to sit there while I waited for him to show up. I told HR already but didn't seem to do much. The only good outcome is this gave me the kick in the butt I needed to start finding a new job.
