So I know I am not without blame but do I deserve this?
In March I had a house fire- all my money is tied up in the repairs/attorney.
I asked my employer for a raise. I had gotten a 5% raise but was below where I was supposed to be when I took a covid pay cut. I was told no. I said I would need a second job. I was told to go do taxes.
I interviewed for a competing co. I know I know. But as a unit level accountant I have no power. The industry is small. My boss had worked for the co I interviewed for. I got the job. It paid 28k more. I asked them to match. I got 7k. I was warned that it was very toxic.
I work both for a few weeks and learn the toxicity is a level I don't think possible. Sexual harassment, theft, violence and a union. Afraid to terminate bc they are self insured.
Sexual harassment starts against me. A whole dept turned it into a game…the leader was already suspended multiple times. I report it and my friend is forced to work 32 hrs straight, pay is messed with.
It continues and escalates. I report it. All of it. 3x. I don't quit either job. I want to but I get approached by a group of employees begging me to stay. Im the only one who cares and respects our 1200 hourly employees.
My home life included a heroin addict and the need for police presence several times a week. So staying working evenings also served to keep me safe and sane.
Another Sexual harassment event with physical touch occurs and I end up with covid. The guy who harassed me friend reported I was working for both. I did tell the second employer I wasn't resigning quickly and they were ok with it. I told the first co 6 weeks in. No problem.
It took the rumor mill and 9 days and a demand on my part…long story short. Im fired after I turn in an 8 page statement requested by corporate HR as they are investigating the mgmt above me.
They also call my other employer and allege I am committing corporate espionage. So they fire me too.
It should be over. Nope. Getting threatening calls and anonymous letters telling me to back off. I have been accused of harming the entire black male population, of affairs… as much as I want revenge I want to move on and move forward but yhats hard with 3 weeks of constant harassment.
I understand how it looks like I crossed a line but does it warrant this?
