Like the title says, I was fired. I’ve been out of work since January for an eye surgery. I’ll explain the surgery more at the end. Clearly this is not a normal time frame for eye surgery as I’ve had some complications. I got a letter in the mail letting me know my leave was not covered FMLA and my position was no longer needed. I won’t be getting anymore disability checks, I can’t file for unemployment, and I’m still paying on the surgery. I’m currently not able to work because of my vision. Way to kick a person down who has been loyal for 15 years. I was actually ok yesterday since I was fueled by anger. I guess today is the depression stage.
TLDR- eyes bad. Mono vision is crap and my brain can’t figure it out.
Now the long part about my eye surgery. My eyes are bad. I wore a -12 contact but needed -13. They don’t make -13 in the brand I can wear with no issues. Surgery was my only option. First surgery was to get my natural lens removed and new light adjustable lens places. LAL means you have to stair at a light that might as well be the sun for 5 separate times. Each time your eyes feel like they’ve been burned. That burning lasts for almost a week each visit. The last 2 times are so bad everything has a red tint for a few days. Went in for my 2nd correction surgery and they fitted me with glasses that mimic my after surgery vision. I couldn’t see. They kinda panicked and gave me contacts to wear to see if I could adjust. I can’t. I struggle to see anything up close, I have not intermediate vision, but I can see far away kinda ok. Everything is blurry. Best way to describe it is like wearing blurry 3D glasses. They said it sometimes takes time for your brain and eyes to adjust to the new type of vision.
