Hi antiwork!
I really appreciate the spirit of this sub and the knowledge that's been shared here. You've helped me navigate a few different work environments since your inception and now I have a new monster to tackle: After doing market research for my city as well as my position (graphic designer) in similarly sized companies, I'm being under-paid to the tune of $15,000.
Are there any resources you would suggest to help me prep for my performance review tomorrow? My main hurtle is that I've only worked for this company a little over a year, and while my supervisor is on my side, she is concerned that our COO won't be amicable to my request for a nearly 30% raise. I'm anxious and the only advice anyone has given me is “walk in there confidently – know your worth!” and “bring examples of how you're an asset!” It all seems so vague. I've read through “Never Split the Difference,” but that's the extent of my experience with negotiation. If anyone has stories of how similar situations went for them, I'd appreciate it.
Thank you in advance for your support!
